El primer avance del próximo documental de Phil Lynott Songs For While I’m Away se lanzó en lo que habría sido el 71 cumpleaños del músico irlandés.
El tráiler de Break Out Pictures y Eagle Rock Films presenta imágenes de Thin Lizzy en el escenario, clips de archivo de la juventud de Phil y comentarios de algunos de los colaboradores que incluyen a Scott Gorham, Eric Bell, Darren Wharton, James Hetfield de Metallica, Adam Clayton de U2, Huey Lewis y Suzi Quatro.
La sinopsis de la película dice: “Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away es un largometraje documental sobre la vida y la música de Phil Lynott, que cuenta la historia de cómo un joven negro de la clase trabajadora del Dublín de los años 50 se convirtió en la mejor estrella de rock de Irlanda.
“Como cantante principal de Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott fue un compositor, un poeta, un soñador, un hombre salvaje. Contada extensamente a través de las palabras del propio Phil y centrándose en algunas de sus canciones icónicas, la película llega al corazón de Philip, el padre, el esposo, el amigo, el hijo, el ícono del rock, el poeta y el soñador ”.
La película se estrenará próximamente en los cines y la fecha de estreno se anunciará a su debido tiempo.
También se ha revelado hoy que se lanzará una enorme caja de Thin Lizzy el 23 de octubre a través de UMC.
Rock Legends celebrará los 50 años de Thin Lizzy repartidos en 6CD / DVD e incluirá un total de 99 pistas, 74 de las cuales no se han lanzado anteriormente y serán la primera entrega de un programa de lanzamiento que abarque toda la carrera.
La colección ha sido supervisada por el guitarrista de Thin Lizzy, Scott Gorham, y el experto en Lizzy, Nick Sharp, a partir de una colección de cintas recién descubiertas. Rock Legends también ha sido masterizado recientemente por Andy Pearce e incluirá demos, sesiones de radio, grabaciones en vivo y ediciones raras.
El DVD contendrá el documental de la BBC Bad Reputation y la actuación de Thin Lizzy en 1976 en el especial de televisión A Night On The Town de Rod Stewart.
Además de la música, la colección también incluirá réplicas del programa de la gira, libros de poesía de Lynott, cuatro impresiones del artista de la portada de Lizzy, Jim Fitzpatrick, y un libro con citas de todos los miembros de la banda sobre su tiempo tocando con Lynott.
Un comunicado agrega que también incluirá “una selección de fanáticos famosos como Slash, Lemmy, Joe Elliot, Geddy Lee, James Hetfield, Ian Gillan, Henry Rollins, Billy Corgan, Bobby Gillespie, Craig Finn, John McEnroe y Pat Cash hablando de la banda “.
